JEC World 2025: A record-setting milestone 60th edition powered by innovation and circularity
The 60th edition of JEC World took place on March 4-6, 2025. With the theme "Pushing the Limits," the event highlighted the remarkable versatility and innovation of composite materials, continually redefining lightweight design, performance, and possibilities across a growing range of applications. This edition set a new record as the largest JEC World ever, drawing over 45,000 professional attendees from 94 countries. It featured 27 regional and national pavilions and hosted more than 1,350 exhibitors presenting cutting-edge innovations. Additionally, there was a significant increase in business connections through the JEC Business Meetings program.
Mitsui Chemicals Group showcasing TAFNEX™ composite materials at JEC World 2025
For the seventh consecutive edition, the Mitsui Chemicals Group, in collaboration with Formosa Plastics Corporation, showcased the composite material brand TAFNEX™ at a dedicated booth. The booth not only displayed various TAFNEX™ products but also featured several demonstrators relevant to different application sectors. A standout highlight was the full drone demonstrator, incorporating five different components made from TAFNEX™ materials. These included the drone monocoque frame, cover, and blades, which were previously showcased in 2024. This year, new additions to the drone included the compression-molded drone arm and tape-wound drone legs. Unsurprisingly, the drone demonstrator and its components captured significant attention from visitors, particularly given the rapid growth of the UAV industry.
At JEC World 2025, Mitsui Chemicals unveiled more than just new drone components. Among the innovations was a fully thermoplastic type IV pressure vessel, developed and manufactured in collaboration with Conbility GmbH. In the realm of Sports & Leisure, pickleball paddles crafted from a TAFNEX™ Sandwich Panel were unveiled, highlighting a range of design options. For automotive applications, two new products were highlighted. The first was a frunk reinforced with TAFNEX™ UD Tape, part of the "T3-Hub" research project led by Aachen Center for Integrative Lightweight Production (AZL) at RWTH Aachen University, focusing solely on performance enhancements. The second innovation was the VISION Rear lamp demonstrator from ARRK Visibility Solutions, featuring a TAFNEX™ Design Sheet from the "Luminous Carbon" category. This Rear lamp not only includes functional lighting elements like brake and indicator lights but also incorporates backlighting as a stylistic feature.
The Mitsui Chemicals Group will once again showcase their TAFNEX™ composite material solutions at the upcoming JEC World, which is set to be held on March 10-12, 2026.
